To successfully complete the LMS10000 re-creation, we will need certification from an approved third party throughout the build, testing and commissioning process. 

That means putting the right design, engineering and assurance processes in place now — to a standard that can be accepted by the approving body.   We are currently  working alongside Mott MacDonald and TÜV (Risktec) to deliver this. 

This work must happen now since we are, in parallel, ready to prepare the class 58 underframe ahead of construction of the rolling chassis, and will continue alongside the build through to testing and commissioning. 

With your help, our Design Sponsorship campaign will secure £679,000 to move LMS10000 from concept to a fully certified design, ready for construction.

We are using various heritage components and new build components to recreate the LMS 10000 as original components no longer exist. As a result the build cannot benefit directly from grandfather rights from the original design and will require certification based on use of the heritage components combined with new build components. We will be gaining certification through the following categories:

Computer Aided Design (CAD)* £350,000

Finite Element Analysis (FEA)*     £205,000
